Repair and Maintenance Services A full array of stringed instrument repair and maintenance services are available through my shop. I service and repair new and vintage fretted instruments (guitar, bass, banjo, dobro, etc.) and non-fretted stringed instruments (guitar, bass, violin, cello, viola, etc.) Also, I do service and instrument repair for Tillman Music, Rock Hill, SC. Tillman Music is an authorized repair and service center for Fender, Guild, Gretsch, Dean, Tacoma, Sierra, Samick, and Hohner. Please check out their website: www.tillmanmusic.com. Typical repairs and services range for example, from relately easy(string changes and truss-rod adjustment,etc.) through moderate (setups, nut and saddle replacements, electronics repair and modification), to complex (complete rebuilds and refinishing). I built this jig to simulate forces string tension places on the instrument under plaing conditions. This allows more accurate fretting and leveling for the smoothest playing neck.

Refinishing
Partial and total instrument refinishing is available.
With my spray booth and large buffing wheels, I can complete professional finishing and refinishing of most stringed instruments.
In this refinishing example, a Paisley finish (Left) is "prepped" for refinish of black acrylic lacquer (Right). At the customer's requested, the old finish was removed from body cavities and the body cavities were masked during color coats. Body cavities were sealed with the finishes clear coats. This body received three color coats and six clear top coats before polishing. Excess polishing compound was cleaned from the cavities prior to the instrument's re-assembly.

Repairing Split Top
Top "pieces" are brought into plane and gap is closed to provide a good-as-new finish. If a crack remained after leveling and closing the gap, a matching wood splice would be inserted, flushed, and color matched to produce the desired result.

Setup Seminar
Periodically I provide seminars that may be of interest to customers. This setup seminar was conducted at Tillman Music in Rock Hill, South Carolina. I was assisted by Rob Jones. (My "Jazzin" model guitar is on the far left in this photo.)

Broken Headstock
Even what appears to be a total "basket case" can most often be repaired. The extent and cost of the repair may not, in some cases, be economically worthwhile. In this case, the repair was completed with the customer aware that final finish will disclose where the break occurred. However, the instrument was structurally sound and playable while keeping repair costs within the value of the instrument.

Electronics Refurbished
This well played instrument was in for general maintenance and needed pots and switches replaced. I refurbish electronics to OEM specs, as well as, custom wiring of pickups, pots, and switches to provide you a different tonal arsenal.
